Abstract
This paper proposes an optimal location model for transit hubs, with the objective to minimize the demand-weighted total travel time, explicitly taking into account bus stops as demand origins or destinations in the transit network. A solution method is designed to reduce the complexity of the original model formulation. The model was successfully applied to optimize the number of hubs and their locations for a real transit network in Suzhou Industrial Park, China, with the result of significantly improved system performance.
