A Microscopic Emission Model for the Light-Duty Vehicles Based on PEMS Data

Abstract

The primary objective of this paper is to develop a microscopic emission model, named MEM-P, for the light-duty gasoline vehicles operating under hot stabilized conditions by using Portable Emission Measurement System (PEMS) data for Beijing, China. A review of existing studies has found that for the current level of PEMS technology, the best modeling approach is to integrate data binning with parameter statistical method. The data binning method is found more suitable for modeling the deceleration and idling modes, while the parameter statistical method is more suitable for modeling the acceleration and cruise modes. The PEMS data has the characteristics of self-correlation, which can be eliminated by modeling different modes separately and using the historical effecting variables to divide the data.
