The Development of Sustainable Transportation System in Urban Conservation District

Abstract
The transportation system is the backbone of the city and the traffic improvement is the fundamental problem we should resolve during the urban conservation. According to the principle of city conservation, this paper proposes the approach to achieve the sustainable transportation system in the old city in order to support the city conservation and sustainable development. Based on the review of relevant literatures, the study analyzes the characteristics of the transportation systems in the urban conservation areas in and abroad China, and then this study emerges the framework of the transportation system planning based on the pedestrian system and proposes the methods to the planning and design of a sustainable transportation system in the urban conservation area.
