Abstract
Many municipalities are facing increasing development and economic pressures while at the same time trying to maintain an environmental balance in their community. Watershed management master plans can be prepared to assess existing environmental conditions as well as to plan for the future. Anne Arundel County, Maryland has not only chosen to perform this activity through a watershed study, but has also recognized that they need to go one step further to put their plan into action. They have chosen to take the Severn River Watershed Management Plan Study and create an interactive Watershed Management Tool (WMT). This tool will bring together spatial and non-spatial environmental data from the study, and water quality and quantity modeling results into an electronic format easily available to County staff.
