Vermillion River Dam — Removal or Modification

Abstract
A 90-year-old, 3.35 m (11-ft) high, concrete run-of-river dam is located in Vermilion County, Illinois on the Vermilion River. This dam has caused three drowning deaths in the last 10 years. To remedy the public safety hazard caused by the dam, the owner is analyzing modification or removal. This paper summarizes the preliminary investigation conducted by the Vermilion River Dam planning committee.
