Predictive Route Guidance: An Overview

Abstract
Predictive route guidance uses forecasts of traffic conditions to provide drivers with messages related to their route choice decisions. Three distinct approaches for generating predictive guidance — extrapolation methods, methods based on traffic network models, and predictive feedback methods — are presented and discussed.
