Study on Speed-Up of China Railway Main Lines
Publication: Traffic And Transportation Studies (2002)
Abstract
The thesis firstly briefly introduces the fundamental situation of China railway speed-up, and on the basis of train working diagram and technological documents of track facilities of the Third Speed-up, it analyses the running conditions of passenger express trains on Three Main Lines ( Beijing-Guangzhou line, Beijing-Shanghai line, Beijing-Harbing line) by comparing the scheduled running speed of passenger express trains with the track allowable speed of the same section. Then it analyses the potential of continuing speed-up on Three Main Lines without any technical reconstruction on the present track facilities. Sequentially, it studies several prominent problems that restrain train speed-raising on Three Main Lines and puts forward some proposals just as raising the track allowable speed and actual running speed of passenger trains at the adjoining sections of big passenger stations and terminals on each main-line, reducing the variation frequency of section track allowable speed, prolonging the length of continuous sectors that preserving higher track allowable speed and cutting down the stop number of passenger trains with consideration of the market effects. At last it stresses that the better effects of railway speed-up come from the focal reconstruction of restrict factors that greatly influence the speed-up with the proper technical transform measures and the concrete analysis according to the actual situation.
