Non-System Construction Adjacent to the APM
Publication: Automated People Movers: Moving Through the Millennium
Abstract
The paper presents several examples of demolition and construction of hi-rise buildings within several feet of the operating APM in downtown Miami, Florida. Details are discussed to demonstrate how the system operator was able to resolve this issue so that future building construction will be controlled with the least impact on the safe operation of the system. The approach is applicable to any APM planned for, or operating in a downtown city environment.
