Abstract
Water Quality Analysis Simulation Program WASP5 was applied to the Chi-Shui River in southern Taiwan to simulate the distribution of BOD and DO concentrations. After model calibration and confirmation, the model was used to investigate the water quality conditions under design flows. Furthermore, considering the uncertainty of model parameters and input data, risk analysis techniques, including Monte Carlo simulation, mean value first-order second-moment method, and advanced first-order second-moment method were used to calculate the probability of BOD and DO concentrations in violation of river water quality standards. Finally, the results of risk analyses from different methods are compared and discussed in this paper.
