American Water Institutions, Accomplishments and Obsolescence: Are we ready for the New Millennium?

Abstract
American Water Institutions have played a major role in our quality of life as a Nation. We have lost our leadership in this field and the federal and academic roles have diminished. Inadequate attention is given to asset, regional and watershed management, as well as modernization of water law. The system is fragmented; wasteful of economic and professional resources. A number of solutions, as well as models which might serve us, are discussed.
