Private Involvement in Toll Road Projects

Abstract
This paper gives an overview of Indonesian toll road development and past practices in the involvement of private sector. Private involvement in toll development is possible through limited option in case of Indonesia, where private concession has been implemented in some toll road projects. In the post economic crisis, the government of Indonesia will continue to invite private sector in the development of infrastructure. A historical background and some issues in past practices are discussed. A possible usage of criteria is proposed to assist the public sector in identifying the possible involvement of private sector.
