Journal Title Change Announcement

Publication: Journal of Civil Engineering Education
Volume 146, Issue 1
I am excited to announce that the Journal of Professional Issues in Engineering Education and Practice (JPI) will change title to the Journal of Civil Engineering Education (JCEE) in January of 2020. The scope of JCEE will be on broad issues related to civil engineering education and closely related disciplines, including construction, architectural, and environmental engineering. Publications will focus on the educational experiences in college and beyond that prepare students for the profession as well as studies of civil engineering practice in these fields. Papers are encouraged that examine the efficacy of educational practices using rigorous and careful research methodologies. We aim to positively impact the field by improving our understanding of civil engineering education and practice, and how to best prepare students to have successful careers. The process to change the journal title and scope was led by Matthew Roberts, former editor of JPI. Matt and a small group of editors spent considerable time evaluating the name and scope change and how it would impact the journal and readership. Input from a wide range of constituents was gathered to inform the decision-making process and the changes were approved by the JPI Editorial Board and the ASCE Publisher. Thank you to Matt and the committee for their hard work. I am honored and pleased to lead the journal in this transition to a focus on civil engineering education.
