Tom Haase, NHR Book Review Editor, ([email protected])
Natural Hazards Review addresses the range of events, processes, and consequences that occur when natural hazards interact with the physical, social, economic, and engineered dimensions of communities and the people who live, work, and play in them. NHR invites hazard researchers and practitioners to submit review essays of books that consider the technical and/or social aspects of hazards and disasters.
To strengthen the diversity of the hazard and disaster research community, NHR welcomes the review of books that consider such topics from the perspectives of non-western and historically marginalized communities. Additionally, NHR invites junior researchers, practitioners, and advanced graduate students to submit review essays for consideration.
Natural Hazards Review seeks review essays of books published during the last two years whose content are deemed important for the hazard community. To be considered for publication, a review essay must summarize a relevant book, illuminate its strengths and weaknesses, and place it in context with the existing literature. NHR will also consider essays that provide a contemporary perspective on books deemed to be classics as well as essays that provide a comparative review of two or three related books.
Natural Hazards Review requires review essays to meet the following formatting requirements:
Natural Hazards Review welcomes inquiries about the review essay submission process and accepts recommendations for books that could be reviewed for our international audience.
