Reproducibility is a moral and ethical imperative in science and engineering, yet attempts to reproduce published results are unsuccessful in numerous fields. The articles in this special collection had results that were independently reproduced by a Journal associate editor for reproducibility or reproducibility reviewer during the review process. Each article included a “Reproducible Results” section that listed what results were reproduced and who reproduced them. Each article was published open-access free to the authors and articles received a silver badge to indicate all research materials were publicly available and results were reproducible. Through this special collection, the Environmental Water Resources Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), ASCE Publishing, and the Journal seek to recognize and reward people who make their results more reproducible. We encourage more researchers and authors to improve the reproducibility of their work, narrow the gap between research and practice, and let our community more quickly use, apply, and advance published work. See the Journal’s webpage for instructions to submit a manuscript to this special collection.
