Special Collection on Risk Assessment and Decision Support Tools for Complex Environmental Engineering Challenges
Guest Editors:
Jade Mitchell, Ph.D., Michigan State University, Steven I. Safferman, Ph.D., P.E., Michigan State University, and Dawn Reinhold, Ph.D., Michigan State University

Risk assessment and decision support tools to manage complex environmental engineering challenges are crucial in the absence of testing or observational results. The state-of-the-art methodologies to conduct risk assessments and formulate decisions are rapidly advancing as a result of improved understanding of microbial genetics and the fate and transport of pollutants and the development of advanced modeling techniques. This special collection will review and present new state-of-the-art research in human and ecological risk relating to water and wastewater infrastructure and greenhouse gas emissions. Additional papers for this special collection will be added as they are accepted and published online. Readers are encouraged to check the online collection page frequently to find additional content.
