Special Collection on Disaster Resilience, Safety and Sustainability of Civil Infrastructure Systems
Guest Editor:

The worldwide awareness of the resilience, safety and sustainability of life and nature is indicative of an important role that civil infrastructures play in guaranteeing a resilient, safe and sustainable life quality. Once an infrastructure is constructed its life-cycle demands a great effort in terms of maintenance and rehabilitation, in order not to jeopardize the initial investment in infrastructure assets and not to degrade surrounding and global environment. This special collections include outstanding papers from the “Disaster Resilience, Safety and Sustainability” track in the First International Conference on Maintenance and Rehabilitation of Constructed Infrastructure Facilities (MAIREINFRA) in Seoul, Korea in 2017. MAIREINFRA 2017 was organized by International Society for Maintenance and Rehabilitation of Transport Infrastructures (iSMARTi), which was established in 2003 in Guimaraes, Portugal. MAIREINFRA 2017 was attended by over 250 people from 22 countries. The papers addresses the emerging issues in disaster resilience, safety and sustainability of civil infrastructure systems:

  • Impacts of Coastal Hazards on a Port City: A Case Study of Hai Phong in Vietnam
  • The Effect of Dynamic Emergency Cues on Fire Evacuation Performance in Public Buildings
  • Exploring Spatial Relationship between Roadway Safety and Wet Condition Risk Factors based on Systemic Safety Analysis Approach
  • Sustainability Evaluation of Pavement Technologies Through Multicriteria Decision Techniques
  • Frequency-Wave Number Domain Analysis of Air-Coupled Impact-Echo Tests in Concrete Slab
  • Structural Design and Life-Cycle Assessment of Heated Pavement Using Conductive Asphalt
  • Characterizing Permeable Pavement System Water Flow Using the Cumulative Hydrograph Model Approach
  • Facility Management Process of an Office Building
  • Real-time Energy Audit of Built Environments: Simultaneous Localization and Thermal Mapping
