Aims & Scope

As the economy in cold regions continues to develop, there are growing concerns about the safety of civil engineering facilities and structural integrity in cold regions and harsh marine environments. This special issue focuses on the risks and reliability of civil engineering infrastructures in cold regions, including the design and reliability evaluation of structures, durability assessment of civil engineering structures under extreme and cold climatic conditions, the reliability of polar marine engineering structures, the seismic reliability of structures, and the sustainable development of civil infrastructures and environment. Ensuring the safety and durability of engineering structures in complex and frigid environments is essential for constructing and operating civil infrastructures and for developing and utilizing resources in cold regions.

With this in mind, we would like to invite scholars to submit articles about their recent work in this area, including tools, concepts, or case studies, motivated or illustrated by real examples, with respect to the above and/or the following topics:

  • Performance evolution and uncertainty analyses of civil engineering materials/structures under extremely cold weather conditions
  • Reliability design and evaluation of the structures in cold regions
  • Long-term durability evaluation of civil engineering materials/structures under extremely cold weather conditions
  • Ice load probabilistic model and development for polar ocean anti-ice engineering structures
  • Structural reliability of polar ocean engineering/cold region engineering
  • Seismic reliability of structures in cold regions
  • Analysis of the uncertain factors of polar frozen soil and environmental engineering
