Journal Name Change

Publication: Journal of Structural Design and Construction Practice
Volume 30, Issue 1
Dear Journal Readers and Contributors,
It is with great pleasure that we announce the renaming of our journal from Practice Periodical on Structural Design and Construction to Journal of Structural Design and Construction Practice.
Our primary aims and scope remain unchanged, which is to publish articles about practical solutions to structural design problems and construction challenges of interest to practitioners. Articles may be of any length. Those reporting on small and medium-sized projects will be welcomed. Photographs are desirable; graphs, tables, and lengthy formulas are discouraged. The editors are not interested in what researchers have to say to one another; although articles must be technically sound, the overriding question in the editors’ minds when considering a submission is whether the article will be of interest to a significant number of practicing engineers and contractors.
We will continue to serve as a platform for the dissemination of high-quality research and practical manuscripts in the field of structural design and construction. We also recognize the need to adapt and expand our scope to encompass emerging trends and interdisciplinary perspectives in related fields.
Some of the recent notable accomplishments of the journal include:
Expanded editorial board.
Substantial increase in the number of submittals.
Substantial increase the number of reviewers in the journal database.
Maintained relatively low acceptance rate.
Increased the number of current special collections to 14.
Reduced the time of processing manuscripts from submission to print.
Increased the number of required reviewers for all manuscripts.
For the first time since inception, we now have an Impact Factor (IF). Having an IF is expected to increase the number submissions and improve the quality of manuscripts.
We will continue to uphold rigorous standards of peer-reviewed manuscripts while also striving to streamline our processes and reduce the time and barriers to publication.
We would like to express our gratitude to our readers, contributors, reviewers, and editorial board members for their continued dedication. Our appreciation also goes to the ASCE staff for their support of the editorial board’s needs and recommendations.
We are confident that with continued active participation from all, the journal will continue to grow in the years to come.
