Editor’s Note

All manuscripts submitted to the Practice Periodical of Hazardous, Toxic and Radioactive Waste Management should be accompanied by a list of four potential reviewers suggested by the author(s). This list should include the complete name, address, telephone and fax numbers, e-mail address, and a list of at least five keywords that identify the expertise of each reviewer. The periodical is not obligated to use all or any of the recommended reviewers; however, we feel that this policy will lead to an improved review process. The new manuscripts should be submitted to Journals Department, ASCE, 1801 Alexander Bell Drive, Reston, VA 20191-4400.

We have had several journal issues in the past dedicated to special topics and we plan to keep up this practice. The following topics are planned for future dedicated or special issues in the order listed:

Authors interested in submitting an article for consideration to one of the specialty issues should contact the Editor via phone at 913-551-7453 or e-mail address [email protected]for submission, and to confirm deadlines and schedules for the special or dedicated issues. Each of the special issues may also contain a few articles that are not related to the topic of the issue.

In this issue, we have technical articles on: “Design of a Passive Bio-Barrier System for Chromium Containment in Confined Aquifers”; “Comprehensive One-Dimensional Mathematical Model for Heat, Gas, and Moisture Transport in Methane Biofilters”; “Characterization of Chromite Ore Processing Residue”; “Isolation Characterization and Identification of Bacteria from Activated Sludge and Soluble Microbial Products (SMP) in Wastewater Treatment Systems”; and “Kinetic Model for the Remediation of Soils Contaminated with Hydrocarbons using Low Temperature Oxidation.”
