Transfer of Journal Editorship to Shane Brown

Publication: Journal of Professional Issues in Engineering Education and Practice
Volume 145, Issue 3
It is with great pleasure that I announce the transfer of the editorship of this Journal to Shane Brown, Ph.D., P.E., F.ASCE, of Oregon State University. Based on my work with Shane these past months to transition, I am absolutely convinced that through his leadership the Journal of Professional Issues in Engineering Education and Practice (JPI) will continue to prosper and grow in importance to the field. I look forward to continuing to work with Shane as I step into the role of JPI deputy editor.
Shane assumes the editorship at a pivotal point in the history of JPI. Beginning in January 2020, JPI’s title will change to the Journal of Civil Engineering Education with an accompanying change in scope. The editorial board has worked for more than a year on the change, consulting with journal constituents and crafting an appropriate scope befitting a new focus on the scholarship of civil engineering education. I am especially excited about these changes and am confident in Shane’s ability to lead the transition.
In stepping down as editor, I express my deep appreciation to all those who have contributed to the success of JPI. First and foremost, I am grateful for the dedication and talent of the advisory board. My most sincere thanks go out to all of the associate editors I have worked with during my tenure: Arif Anwar, Edward Back, Gouranga Banik, Brock Barry, Angela Bielefeldt, Amy Chan-Hilton, Rafiq Choudhry, Norman Dennis, Howard Epstein, Paolo Gardoni, Jim Hanson, Liv Haselbach, Steven Jones, John Kevern, William Lawson, Joe Manous, Devlin Montfort, Deborah O’Bannon, Declan Phillips, Andrew Rener, Jerry Rogers, Denise Simmons, Mark Tumeo, Harold Walker, Mary Katherine Watson, Derek Williamson, Florence Yean Yng Ling, and Manoochehr Zoghi.
I am profoundly thankful for the services of my editorial assistant, Denise Roberts, who kept things running smoothly. The ASCE publications staff has been incredibly professional and supportive of the Journal. Managing editors Kelly Anderson and Holly Koppel have been helpful and exceedingly patient with my questions and efforts to lead the Journal. Elizabeth Guertin has always been quick to respond and gracious in helping me with the Editorial Manager system. Our new publisher, Angela Cochran, has been supportive and was a great help in the efforts to change the title and scope of the journal. And of course, many thanks go to the authors and reviewers who have contributed so much of their time and expertise to JPI.
