Abstract

  • Proceedings and invited papers for sessions on the ASCE 150th Anniversary at the 2002 ASCE Civil Engineering Conference and Exposition, held in Washington, D.C., November 3-7, 2002. Sponsored by the National History and Heritage Committee of the Environmental and Water Resources Institute of ASCE. This collection contains 22 papers that focus exclusively on the history of various governmental and academic organizations that played important roles in the nation's water resources and environmental activities. Papers address such topics as environmental engineering history and developments, hydraulic engineering pioneers, Bureau of Reclamation history and developments, university water and hydraulic education/research, hydrology and water resources planning, a river history summary, formation of the Environmental and Water Resources Institute, and history of ASCE technical divisions and codes/standards activities.
