Electrical Transmission in a New Age

Abstract

  • Proceedings of the Electrical Transmission in a New Age Conference, held in Omaha, Nebraska, on September 9-12, 2002. Sponsored by the Structural Engineering Institute of ASCE. This collection contains 43 papers on the art and science of stransmission line engineering. Electrical transmission is more important now than ever in maintaining the electrical grids in this country. These lines are subjected to electrical loads far beyond those meant for their original design. Structural design has become more sophisticated with the use of better tools of analysis and increased understanding of the various loading scenarios that significantly affect the reliability of these facilities. Topics include: design loads, structural reliability, structural analysis, structural design, foundations, current research, facility life extension, lifeline criteria, and line capacity.
