Multipurpose River Developments
Publication: Transactions of the American Society of Civil Engineers
Volume 118, Issue 2
Abstract
The trend toward multipurpose projects is traced through the historical development of various uses, by reason of both technological advancement and statutory influence. No attempt is made to establish firsts among multipurpose projects. This would impose a burden which in the end would not be useful. The task may better be left to statisticians. Rather, projects are cited which are representative of the trend of the times in various phases of the development—projects which are widely known and which, for their time, were of major importance.
