Subroutine for Settling Velocities of Spheres
Publication: Journal of the Hydraulics Division
Volume 103, Issue 9
Abstract
Numerous engineering studies require the settling velocity of particles in quiescent water. The problem is complicated by having to determine the Reynolds number-drag coefficient relationship for the particle size, density, and viscosity conditions that pertain. If the relationship is in the transition range between purely viscous resistance and eddying resistance a nettling, if not difficult, trial-and-error solution ensures.
