Abstract
The results of observations obtained from measuring instruments installed in the Netzahualcoyotl Dam constructed on the Grijalva River in the State of chiapas, Mexico, are examined. The information was obtained during the construction period and the seventeen months following construction and before impounding commenced. The rockfill dam has a central impervious core and is founded on a well-cemented conglomerate having a sandy clay matrix with lenticular intercalations of sandstones and shales up to 6 m in thickness. The upstream rockshell rests on natural river deposits of uniform medium sand of variable thicknese to 30 m maximum.
