Abstract
A three-dimensional method of analysis is developed for pile foundations supported by soil strata through axial and lateral resistance. The approach is applicable to pile structures, supporting machine footings, piers, and abutments of bridges. The method becomes simple for foundations in water, such as wharves and dolphins (without lateral support) and for retaining walls (planar problems).
