Abstract
The average annual water consumption in the lower Colorado River valley between Davis Dam and Imperial Dam during the period 1950-1966 is about 1,200,000 acre-feet, the average of values computed by an (1) inflow-outflow budget, and (2) consumptive-use coefficients applied to acreages. Estimates of water consumption computed by each of the methods differ by as much as 115,000 acre-feet for some reaches. These differences are not considered unreasonable in view of the large flows of the Colorado River relative to the water consumed and the uncertainties of many of the values of individual items of the two methods.
