Systems View of Professional Engineering
Publication: Journal of Professional Activities
Volume 95, Issue 1
Abstract
The engineering profession is presently classified by academic divisions, which have substantial overlap in basic functions. A systems view of the profession creates an outline that stresses fields of proficiency based on dynamic action of the engineer. This is in contrast with the academic view of the profession that stresses the engineer as a custodian of static travail of science and technology.
