Abstract
An exact solution is derived for the stresses in a uniformly loaded, simply supported circular plate, composed of two dissimilar layers of isotropic, elastic materials. Large errors in the bending stresses predicted by classical thin plate theory occur when the loaded layer has a much smaller shear modulus than the underlying layer.
