Five Years of Sewer System Evaluation

Twenty-eight wastewater collection systems spread over the South-Central and South-East region of the United States were surveyed and evaluated for infiltration/inflow in a systematic manner. After a brief description of the planning and executions of the sewer system evaluation surveys, the findings are presented in five tables. Table 1 covers the infiltration/inflow characteristics. Tables 2,3, and 4 cover recommended rehabilitation work broken down into the three major components of a collection system: collection lines, manholes and service lines. Table 5 covers rehabilitation costs and expected savings that will result from the elimination of excessive infiltration/inflow.
