Social and Environmental Costs in Construction

Abstract
The results of a survey designed to determine the percentage of construction costs spent for social and environmental controls is presented. Questionnaires were sent to a selected number of contractors appearing on The ENR 400 Contractors Compilation. The data indicate that 10.21% of the overall yearly construction cost is allocated for social and environmental controls. The corresponding yearly dollar amount for social and environmental controls is approximately −20,400,000,000.
