Engineering and Legal Professions: Interaction Needed
Publication: Issues in Engineering: Journal of Professional Activities
Volume 105, Issue 1
Abstract
Due to our advancing technology, there has been an increase in the number of litigations involving highly complex technical matters. Unfortunately decisions are being made in these cases by individuals with limited technical background. On matters dealing with public policy, the interests of the general public are certainly not best served if such decisions are of questionable validity or erroneous because of this situation. It follows that the engineering profession has a responsibility to find more effective means of impacting on decisions handed down from such litigation and other legal proceedings.
