A Profile of ASCE Membership
Publication: Engineering Issues: Journal of Professional Activities
Volume 98, Issue 2
Abstract
The 1967 National Engineers' Register survey data for ASCE members are presented in tabular form with an analysis. Basic characteristics are tabulated for members' citizenship, age, geographical location, college curriculum, and highest level of degree. Employment characteristics are presented for years of experience, employment area and function, type of employer, employment status, employment of professional identification, registration, and membership in other professional societies. Individual correlations are presented between the highest level of degree and five areas: age, geographical location, employment area, type of employer, and professional registration. This composite view of the ASCE membership is being presented for the first time and is intended for use of the general membership as well as particular ASCE Committees.
