Abstract
The required scale relationships for wave models with fixed bed are developed using dimensional analysis, and reviewed in the light of recent research. Special emphasis is placed on modeling the boundary layer. Shear stresses, velocity distributions, boundary layer thickness, and flow regimes are considered in detail. This is a first step in a much broader program that includes tide and current action and mobile bed models.
