Design for Implementation Strategy for Designing a Sustainable Building Using the Geosolar Exergy Storage Technology: Case Study

Abstract

In this paper, a product life cycle design template used to assist in the development of a product knowledge base is introduced. The paper argues that following this model should result in a focus on real-world product behavior beyond the expected product performance by directing the questions from what should happen when the products interact in the universe to what can happen at each design juncture. The template may be simply used as a thought process with a pad and pencil for recording notes for simple or on-the-fly design decisions. The idea of using the templates as a tool could be more formalized for larger designs and knowledge-base development. In this paper, the concept has been demonstrated in building the knowledge base for the geosolar exergy storage technology (GEST) house.
