Numerical Simulation of Degradation of Alluvial Channel Beds

Abstract
The bed degradation in alluvial channels resulting from sediment interruption is simulated numerically by solving the one‐dimensional momentum and continuity equations for water and sediment. A simple “bed layer” model is proposed to simulate the plane bed armoring process; the model does not contain any parameter that needs calibration. The agreement between the numerical results and the available experimental data is satisfactory.
