Model of Storm Sewer Discharge. I: Description
Publication: Journal of Environmental Engineering
Volume 124, Issue 7
Abstract
This article presents a mathematical deterministic model for simulating the quantity and quality of discharge from a network of storm sewers for any given rainfall. The model is needed to calculate the hydrographs and pollutographs of discharge at any point in the sewer network. The integrated model includes five submodels: for surface runoff, for pollutant accumulation on the catchment, for pollutant washoff, for flow in the storm sewer network, and for pollutant load transport in the storm sewer network. The input data are the characteristics of the catchment area of the storm sewer network, and of the rainfall. This paper presents a mathematical description of each process that occurs during the runoff and washoff of pollutants from the catchment. Verification of the model is presented in a companion paper also published in this issue.
