Abstract
This paper is an overview of the current state-of-the-art for utilizing reinforced thermosetting resin pipe (RTRP). There are modifications of these designs that are normally referred to as composite pipes. The most common composite pipe is reinforced plastic mortar (RPM). The overview describes the various ingredients that make up the structural wall such as the resin matrix, the reinforcing fiberglass, and the various filler materials if structurally, chemically, or esthetically desired. Also, various methods of fabrication, which are usually pertinent to specific applications, are considered and evaluated. The current status of specification, standardization and codes are included in the overview. The various engineering properties are covered in detail with references made for in depth study of certain features in the bibliography. The normally accepted design and installation parameters pertinent to applications are also keyed in the bibliography.
