Flood Analysis by SMEMAX Tranformation - A Review

Publication: Journal of the Hydraulics Division
Volume 106, Issue 2

Abstract

A SMEMAX (Small, Median, Maximum) transformation proposed by Nadavia Bethlahmy normalizes skewed population so that the transformed value representing a flood for a given return period may be readily calculated on the basis of the parameters of the normal curve, and easily reconverted to the original flow units. A modified approach to the SMEMAX Transformation, which is much simpler, is described herein.
