Abstract
Modification of basic theory for design of spillways, developed by Hinds is presented; this theory is adapted for use in design of spillways with L-shaped crest; studies show that side-channel spillway with end section can be more accurately designed if effect of unequal velocity distribution is considered; they also indicate that by use of momentum-correction factor, as examined, it is possible to design spillway similar to that at Townshend Dam by analytical methods.
