Abstract
The solution to problems of one-dimensional consolidation has largely been confined to single compressible layers and free draining or impervious boundaries (5). In addition, solutions to the clay layer with one impeded drainage surface (1,3) as well as the doubly and singly drained two layer stratum (3) have been developed for the condition of a time-independent loading and a uniform initial excess pore pressure.
