Effect of Flocculation on Activated Sludge Settling Behavior

Abstract
If close control and economical design of the activated sludge process are to be achieved, settling tank design practices must be based on a clear understanding of the mechanisms of sludge settling. The work reported herein was undertaken to evaluate the manner in which the degree of agglomeration of activated sludge solids influences setting characteristics.
