Biaxially Loaded Concrete Sections
Publication: Journal of the Structural Division
Volume 105, Issue 12
Abstract
A method has been developed for the calculation of the ultimate strength and the design of reinforced concrete sections subject to biaxial eccentricity. The method follows the recommendations of the CEB-FIP Model Code for Concrete Structures but can easily be adapted to the ACI code. The shape of the section and the type of reinforcement may be any whatsoever. The theory is developed particularly for sections defined by the coordinates of the vertices of the outline polygon. The formulas and the procedure for calculation of the mechanical characteristics of the concrete and steel sections, areas and static moments of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd order, are presented for such sections. The method presupposes the use of computers.
