The Importance of Balance in Engineering Education
Publication: Journal of Professional Practice
Volume 85, Issue 1
Abstract
The engineer must have a firm grounding in science, but he must operate in areas that are in part above and beyond the well-documented areas of systematized knowledge. If the art of harmonizing and relating conflicting forces and tendencies be crowded out by science to the point where we are merely training scientific technicians, the essence of professionalism in engineering will be lost.
