Abstract
In order to explore the reflection of elastic waves under unilateral constraints that allow separation between two solids, the paper considers the reflection of incident P-waves from a rigid frictionless boundary. The problem is reduced to dual series equations that can be solved analytically. The results show that the reflected waves contain higher frequencies and have several other features that are not encountered in the absence of separation.
