Contact Between Plates and Sagged Supports

Abstract
A rectangular plate resting on simple supports at two opposite sides is considered. One or both of the other supports may have sagged by a uniform amount, so that the plate starts to touch them only when the load has reached a certain level. Further loading leads to an advancing contact between the plate and the sagged support. The principal problem is to find the extent of contact and the reaction from the sagged support. The analysis leads to dual-series equations which are solved by use of finite integral transforms.
