Application of Dual Series to Rectangular Plates
Publication: Journal of the Engineering Mechanics Division
Volume 100, Issue 2
Abstract
A rectangular plate resting on simple supports at two opposite sides and partially supported at the other edges is considered. The bending of the plate by uniform loading is formulated in terms of dual-series equations. Application of finite Hankel transforms reduces the dual-series equations to a Fredholm integral equation that can be solved by standard techniques. Numerical results are given for the deflections of the free edges and the change in strain energy.
