Preparing U.S. Employees for Overseas Assignments
Publication: Issues in Engineering: Journal of Professional Activities
Volume 108, Issue 4
Abstract
Local bureaucracy, our governments' bureaucracy, and just plain lack of convenience cause overseas employees to be far less productive than in the United States. Yet, they cost about 50% more. If they are unhappy over there, their efficiency drops even more. This paper lists a number of ways to improve the chances of having a relatively satisfied overseas employee. The employee's attitude about going overseas, his preparation for going overseas, the employment agreement, and considerations regarding the spouse are examined.
