Involvement-Associate Member Forum/Metropolitan Section-Speaks Out

Publication: Engineering Issues: Journal of Professional Activities
Volume 103, Issue 4

Abstract

There are 900 Associate Members in the Met Section, equal to 30% of the total membership. The Associate Member Forum offers a means to those young engineers starting out in the civil engineering profession to work together in developing a program of activities both professional and social influencing many of these associate members, and future members enrolled in the local engineering schools. There is also the inherent gain for the active individual as a result of the hard work in planning, organizing, and carrying out the programs of AMF. The development of the individual professionally as he moves up the ladder from AMF to Met Section to National Office in ASCE begins with that first commitment to get active, and the follow through it requires to accomplish a job well done.
