Abstract
Three years ago, the ASCE Committee on Younger Members commenced a study of training programs for young civil engineers in various types of organizations. In continuing with the study, the Committee decided that the best way to utilize the data collected would be to describe a desirable training program for various types of orgainzations. This paper describes briefly the status of training programs presently existing in consulting engineering firms, and goes on to present the objectives and characteristics of a professional development program that includes technical training.
